Water Festival Holidays

EG joins Cambodia in celebrating the Water Festival. Based on the request of the Union and in recognition of the workers¡¦ festive spirit to enjoy with their family, the Company is suspending its operation from Nov. 9-15 (Nov. 14-15 will be the replacement of the 2 days holidays in October which is Oct. 29 and 31). The company will resume its normal operation on Nov. 17.

 

CELEBRATION OF PCHUM BEN DAY

September 25, 2008 - In commemoration of the traditional Cambodian holiday of Pchum Ben¡¦s Day (Sept. 28-Oct. 1), EG will advance part of the worker¡¦s salary to the existing workers.  Upon the request of the Union, EG Management decided to grant such request.  In appreciation of the contribution of the workers to the company, EG granted the advance requested which is higher than the amount given by other factories in Cambodia.

 

FORMATION OF HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE

August 16, 2008 - As an initiative in furthering the CSR compliance inside the workplace, the Management requested representatives from various sections of the production to participate in the Health and Safety Committees.  Five H&S Committees comprising of Medical, Security, Housekeeping, Maintenance and Environment has been created.  These committees comprising of all Cambodian workers and Management will be screened as to their roles and responsibilities and will also be trained on the various Health and Safety Procedures inside the workplace.  The Compliance Department will initially conduct training to the leaders of each committee and subsequently these leaders will be the one to conduct the training to their respective committee members. 

 

RE ORIENTATION OF COMPANY RULES AND REGULATIONS

August 8, 2008 - As part of the Management¡¦s commitment to continuously educate the workers on their rights and privileges, EG will conduct the re-orientation starting August 11, 2008 to all existing workers of EG.  This re-orientation program will also serve as at outreach initiative to workers who have individual queries about company policies and also on their working condition.  The training will be conducted by our HR Supervisor who is experienced in HR policies and procedures.  Complaints, suggestions and ideas will be entertained and answered by the trainer during the session.

 

SUPERVISORY SKILLS PROGRAM

June 13, 2008 - EG in collaboration with ILO, conducted a Supervisory Skills Seminar to its Supervisors.  The training will be conducted every Saturday starting June 14, 2008 by an expert trainer sent by ILO.  The goal of the training is to develop the soft skills of the Supervisors which will is necessary in the daily management of their respective workforce in the production floor.  The training covers the following areas:

 

Ø        The roles and Responsibilities of a Professional supervisor

Ø        Characteristics of a Professional Supervisor

Ø        Effective  and Professional ways of resolving the problems inside the production Floor

Ø        Maintaining Personal Integrity

Ø        Supervisor being a good example to its staff

Ø        Five Unforgivable Mistakes Supervisors must avoid

Ø        Different ways of Viewing Life

Ø        Subordinates Empowerment

Ø        Crediting the Relationship Account

Ø        What is Maturity

Ø        What does it mean to have a Win-win Attitude

Ø        Rights the Supervisor must uphold (Introduction to Harassment and Abuse)

Ø        Three Steps of Influencing Staff effectively

Ø        Three Communication Styles (Aggressive, Passive and Assertive)

Ø        The Skill of Listening

Ø        Effective Delegation and Rewards of Good Performance

Ø        Correcting Poor Performance Effectively

Ø        Managing Different Employees Types

 

The training is spread out with the Supervisors of the different sections of E Garment.

 

NEW CSR POLICIES

May 2, 2008 - In order to promote harmonious interaction within the workplace, E Garment introduced updated policies on Grievance Procedures and Disciplinary actions.  These policies have been discussed with the Union and are currently in the process of implementation.
